Maxing out Porsche's configurator, here's what nearly 60k in optional extras on a Macan Electric Turbo gets you
by Khris Bharath on October 2, 2024, 18:00With the all-electric Porsche Macan now officially on sale and starting to hit U.S. dealerships, I wanted to take the opportunity to spec out the most expensive Macan EV possible. So I fired up the configurator and selected the top variant of the four available models (Base, S, 4S, Turbo), which is the Macan Electric Turbo, and went to town. Now before you judge me for the bold PTS color choice, (Speed Yellow - 0UB in case you were wondering), I want to clarify that this was just an exercise. I’m personally far more conservative and would choose something more understated and go with something like silver or navy blue at best. But with this one, I’ve tried my best to select the priciest options available in my quest to get a ballpark figure of the most expensive Macan electric on sale today, and here’s what I found.
Being the top-of-the-line model, the Macan Electric Turbo is pretty feature-packed out of the box and comes with an extensive list of standard equipment. But since I’ve gone a bit berserk with the options, there’s no shortage of some frankly unnecessary options here. So from carbon this to Turbonite that and everything in between, this frankly ostentatious Macan Electric is overkill, but should give you an idea of what’s possible. Now listing out all the options I’ve selected wouldn’t be practical here, so I’m going to leave you a link where you can check it out for yourself. But here are some of the highlights of the most expensive options from the list and no, I haven’t just stuck to visual upgrades, but have also thrown in some performance ones like rear-axle steering.
-
Preparation for Paint to Sample | Speed Yellow: $13,140
-
22" Exclusive Design Wheels with Aeroblades in Carbon Fiber: $7,410
-
Burmester High-End Surround Sound System: $4,710
-
Deviated Stitching Interior Package | Guards Red: $3,520
-
Club Leather Interior in Truffle Brown: $2,860
-
Augmented Reality Head-Up Display: $2,530
-
Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Design Subsecond Clock - $2,090
-
Rear Axle Steering: $2,030
Now the dual-motor, 630 horsepower Macan Electric Turbo has a starting MSRP of $105,300. With every conceivable optional extra added to the build, this yellow example you see here will set you back a cool $162,635, putting it in the ballpark of the latest 992.2 Carrera GTS. This equates to $57,335 in optional extras. No one in their right mind will probably tick so many options, especially since we also need to see how the Macan Electric holds up when it comes to depreciation. The pre-facelift Taycan hasn’t fared that well in this respect, but I think the Macan Electric should do better, considering it has a longer range (over 300+ miles from a single charge) and is in the more desirable SUV body style, that buyers want these days. Add to that, the ability for Porsche EVs to soon charge at Tesla Superchargers with the VW Group also embracing the NACS port, which should make the ownership experience a lot more seamless.
