2025 Porsche Macan 4 Vs. 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro

If you're considering a compact all-electric crossovers from the VW Group, here's how the mid-spec variant of the Macan EV stacks up against the upcoming Q6 e-tron

Porsche’s entry-level SUV, the Macan has gone electric, marking the end of the road for its gas-powered predecessor. Meanwhile, Audi is expanding its EV lineup with the Q6 e-tron, a stylish SUV that fits snugly between the Q4 e-tron and the flagship Q8 e-tron. Both German automakers joined forces to create the PPE platform, a versatile foundation for building high-performance electric vehicles. Also featured on the 2025 Porsche Macan Electric and the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron, this platform boasts an 800-volt architecture, and its flexible design allows for various battery sizes and motor configurations, catering to a range of performance needs.

Now, here’s the interesting part: the Macan EV and the Audi Q6 e-tron share a lot under the skin, especially when you compare their base rear-wheel-drive and mid-spec all-wheel-drive versions. They’re basically like siblings with different personalities. We compare the mid-spec Macan 4 and the Q6 e-tron Quattro to find out which model is the better all-around compact electric crossover.

The standard all-wheel-drive models of the Macan EV and the Q6 e-tron aren’t the most athletic but are much better than rear-drive variants that are designed to maximize range. So, both the vehicles run on dual electric motors, one at the front and another at the rear. However, the Q6 e-tron Quattro pushes out 456 horsepower with Launch Control compared to the Macan 4’s 402 horsepower. We don’t have the torque figures of the U.S.-spec Q6 e-tron Quattro just yet, but it should be higher than the Macan 4’s 479 pound-feet. Both vehicles are expected to hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, but the Porsche can reach speeds up to 136 mph, six more than the Audi.

Underneath the skin, the Macan 4 and the Q6 e-tron Quattro feature the same 100 kWh battery pack. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the battery pack supports up to 270 kW DC fast charging and can rejuvenate up to 80 percent state-of-charge in 21 minutes. As for range, both the Macan 4 and the Q6 e-tron Quattro should go as far as 300 miles (give or take a few) per full charge.

Key differences: 2025 Porsche Macan 4 vs. 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro

From a design standpoint, like a typical Porsche, the Macan 4 gets a sloping hood with four-point headlights on it. The headlights are inspired by the ones you see on the Taycan electric sedan. As standard, the Macan EV has a coupe-like profile, which was something you didn’t get on the gas-powered Macan.

On the inside, it’s a familiar affair with what you’ve seen with the facelifted Cayenne, but in a more compact form. There’s an identical 12.6-inch curved driver’s display, but the infotainment is a tad bit smaller at 10.9 inches. Just like with the Taycan, the Cayenne, and the Panamera, you can now add another 10.9-inch display for the passenger at $1,570. Additionally, the standard leather interior with the heated front seats and heated steering wheel is a bonus.

The Q6 e-tron, to me, looks sharper and more athletic than the Q4 e-tron, thanks to its sporty front-end design with sleek LED headlights. At the rear, the Q6 e-tron features OLED technology in the taillights, enabling those cool Audi animations we love.

Compared to the Macan EV, the interior of the Q6 e-tron looks refreshing, adopting the e-tron model line’s new-age dashboard layout. We can’t be specific about the standard features available since the Q6 e-tron hasn’t launched yet in the U.S., but I think they will be similar to the Macan 4, if not less. However, in some areas, the Q6 e-tron seems superior to the Macan 4, , especially on the display front, which features OLED tech, and the infotainment panel is larger.

Coming to pricing, the Q6 e-tron should be about $8,000 cheaper than the Macan 4 because, well, Porsches aren’t cheap. But, for the extra cash, you’re getting some handy features, such as standard air suspension, which will undoubtedly be an option on the Audi.

Chassis Features Adaptive air suspension, 13.7-inch front brake rotors with 4-piston calipers, 13.7-inch rear brake rotors with single-piston calipers  Adaptive air suspension (optional), probably a similar braking setup to the Macan 4

So, there you have it! Two electric compact crossovers, one from the house of Porsche and the other from Ingolstadt’s finest, Audi. So which one should you choose? Well, it depends on if you’re in a hurry or not. The Macan EV’s U.S. configurator is already up and running, and you can order one right away. Audi has yet to launch the Q6 e-tron in the United States., so we still don’t have pricing info, default features, or even the torque figures!

Another crucial differentiator between Porsche and Audi has been the experience from behind the wheel. Traditionally, Porsche has offered cars that are very engaging to drive, whereas Audi’s with the exception of a few, have lacked when it comes to steering feel. In the end, it all comes down to what you prioritize more. If an engaging drive is what you seek, then I’d place my bet on the Porsche, if not, it may just be worth waiting for the Audi after all, considering you’re getting a lot of the underpinnings, for a lot lesser.
