I’m a sucker for anything with a Porsche crest on it and Porsche Design (PD) has always understood how to blend performance with pure, unadulterated style. Their design philosophy also extends to two wheels. I’m talking about E-Bikes that Porsche Design added to its product lineup in 2021. Regular E-bikes these days are about as exciting as a grocery-getter. But Porsche? They simply don’t do boring. A result of a partnership between Porsche and Rotwild, these E-bikes offer a premium riding experience and draw inspiration from iconic Porsche models like the 911 and the futuristic Taycan E.V. If you’re a Porsche fanatic, their range of E-bikes is a cool way to break a sweat, and now they’re kicking things up a notch with some new colorways and a smartwatch collab that’ll make any Porschephile drool.

Gear Up For Adventure With Porsche Design

Porsche E-bikes come in four flavors. eBike Sport and Cross, Cross Performance, and Cross Performance EXC. For those who prefer off-road terrain, the Porsche eBike Cross represents an excellent choice for the trails. It features a full-suspension carbon frame and sturdy wheels to handle rougher surfaces. The Porsche eBike Cross Performance EXC 2nd Gen is their flagship model. Available across several colors from the Porsche Pallatte, and three sizes, PD is adding two new colors: Cartagena Yellow, a bold choice that matches the latest 911 model. Then there’s Oak Green Metallic Neo, which perfectly complements the new all-electric Macan 4S that also offers an off-road package. This adds up to a total of seven exciting colors to choose from.

But the real star of the show might just be the Porsche × Garmin Epix Pro smartwatch. I’m not necessarily an advocate of smartwatches, (I only recently bought one and finally get the appeal given its versatility). In the PD universe, mechanical masterpieces like the Monobloc Actuator are more my thing. This chunky digital watch is so much more than a fitness tracker – it’s a fusion of function and that unmistakable Porsche design language. We’re talking about the ability to showcase the Porsche crest (along with 12 other logos) on the watch face, analog or digital watch faces, 32 GB of internal storage, a sporty silicone strap with the iconic Porsche lettering, and a black bezel that screams sophistication.

Sure, it’s got all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a top-drawer smartwatch: heart rate monitoring, GPS tracking, and even an ECG app. But what’s cool? The innovative STAMINA data, helps you prevent fatigue and push your limits further. No more bonking halfway up that climb – this watch will have you strategizing your rides like a pro. Plus, the multifrequency reception ensures precise route recording, so you can explore new trails with confidence.

Let’s also not forget practicality. The Porsche × Garmin Epix Pro smartwatch features an LED flashlight for late-night adventures and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal display that can handle anything you throw at it. Battery life lasts up to ten days, and it’s water resistant – perfect for conquering any terrain, come rain or shine.

The E-bikes range from $11,000 to $15,665 for the Porsche eBike Cross Performance EXC 2nd Gen, and the Porsche × Garmin Epix Pro smartwatch will set you back $1,250. Now, I get it. These things are at the pricier end of the spectrum. But really, it’s more about the experience that embraces an active lifestyle, more so if you already own one of Porsche’s rugged models that can venture off the pavement. At the end of the day, with anything that wears a PD badge, you get top-notch materials and a design that will be a conversation starter for a long time to come.

The Porsche Design Legacy

Porsche Design is a name synonymous with combining luxury and performance. Founded by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the designer of the iconic 911, the brand shares the same DNA as the legendary sports car. As an ardent fan of industrial design myself, it’s hard to ignore the design studio’s idea which revolves around optimizing function and reducing form to its bare essentials. Starting out over five decades ago with spectacular timepieces like the Chronograph 1 watch back in 1972, the firm’s approach has since led to timeless designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. The design firm’s portfolio includes a range of lifestyle products that include everything from apparel, electronics, and even a residential tower in Miami, Florida.
