The 402-horsepower Macan 4 offers a solid 308 miles, while the more powerful 630-hp Macan Turbo still manages a respectable 288 miles. These figures solidify the Macan EV’s position as a top contender in the electric SUV market.

Things are always dynamic in the automotive industry and even carmakers like Porsche, hellbent on staying true to tradition, have to resort to unconventional methods to keep some of its most iconic models around. Porsche hasn’t given up on the internal combustion engine and it will continue to give us potent internal combustion powerplants, at least, until 2030. With electrification being the main agenda of many legacy automakers (and more than a few young companies), some of them are trying to make EVs more fun by incorporating traits from combustion-powered vehicles, such as manual shifting.

Well, Audi’s latest Q5 and SQ5 are clinging to dino juice for the 2025 model year and could serve up as a compelling alternative to the gas-powered Macan.

Having said that, going in all on E.V. especially when there is a slowdown in the market and an increasing demand for hybrids may have come at the worst time for Porsche. Regardless, the German automaker continues to reinforce the all-electric Macan’s lineup with two new trims joining the lineup, bringing the total up to four. I wanted to explore the wheel designs available across all four trims and what is the most expensive option available and after spending some time on the online configurator, here’s what I found.

Porsche is adding two more variants of the Macan EV to its line-up. Joining the Macan 4 and the Turbo announced back in January 2024, are the base RWD Macan and the 4S, which will fit between the Macan 4 and the top-of-the-line Turbo variant. The entry-level RWD version is powered by a single motor borrowed from its dual-motor siblings mounted over the rear axle. The base version also uses the same capacity battery as the rest of the line-up, a 100 kWh battery of which 95 kWh is usable. This single-motor set produces 335 horsepower and 415 foot-pounds of torque. You can boost the output to 355 briefly using launch control. The base Macan has a top speed of 137 MPH and a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds. The base Macan is lighter by 242 pounds thanks to only having one motor, this also translates to a WLTP range of up to 398 miles.

The Porsche Macan is one of the most capable compact luxury SUVs available today. While the base four-cylinder engine provides decent acceleration with launch control, it feels sluggish in everyday driving. Porsche is perhaps the only legacy German carmaker that isn’t into making budget-oriented vehicles. So, if you’re considering a brand-new Porsche, you need deep pockets with a minimum of $65,000 in your bank account. For that price, you’ll primarily be paying for the Porsche badge and heritage, with a more basic feature set.

The Porsche Macan GTS returns to the market after a one-year break with a new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that generates 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, making more power than the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 from the last model. That’s enough for it to accelerate to sixty miles in just 4.5 with the optional Sport Chrono package and a higher top speed of 162 mph.
