Why A 718 Hybrid Is The Need Of The Hour For Porsche
With Porsche bracktracking its 2030 all-electric EV strategy and the Panamera and Cayenne retaining ICE power, does an ICE (hybrid) 718 make sense?
Like several other automakers, Porsche devised a strategy for electrification. Originally, the plan was for Porsche to electrify 80 percent of its model lineup by 2030. That said, the automotive industry is a dynamic place and things often change at a rapid pace. Demand for EVs has slowed down, forcing many automakers, Porsche included, to rethink their long-term strategies. The Porsche Taycan marked great success in its early years, but global sales of the EV model have dropped by 50 percent, during the first three quarters of 2024.
Hybrid 911 Turbo Confirmed: Why It Is A Necessary Evil For Porsche
While the 992.2 generation will be first 911 Turbo to feature hybrid-tech, find out why Porsche has no choice but to take this route
Porsche has made it clear: we won’t see a fully electric 911 before the end of the decade. Honestly, I’m not surprised, given an overall slower market adoption of EVs and Porsche itself backtracking on its previous goals, which were previously set to achieve 80 percent electrification by the end of the decade. In the meantime, they’re pivoting towards hybrids across its model lineup, including on its 911, with the hybrid Carrera GTS already hitting the market. The T-Hybrid system on the 911 Carrera GTS of course is a system that focuses on performance, rather than Porsche’s plug-in E-Hybrid system that is all about efficiency. Next year, we can expect the 992.2 Turbo models to join the hybrid fray.
Will Porsche's Upcoming Flagship Halo Hypercar Take The N/A, Hybrid, Or EV Route?
With changing market trends and a slowdown in EV sales, we wonder if Porsche will follow through with its all-electric Mission X concept or consider alternative power plants instead
When it comes to exotic rides, everyone’s talking about how eventful 2024 has been so far, and they’re probably right! But here’s the thing: I consider the whole of 2024 to be very special. The all-new, giant V16-powered Bugatti Tourbillon, the successor to the Chiron, debuted earlier in April. Then Lamborghini blew us away with the Temerario, the Huracan successor, showcasing how a twin-turbo V8 hybrid can replace that epic naturally-aspirated V10.
New Age Holy-Trinity: Where Is Porsche?
With the all-new Ferrari F80 and the McLaren W1 breaking cover, could Porsche be next to join in to create a new-age of holy-trinity hypercars?
2024 has been utterly eventful, especially in the hypercar realm, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to witness it all. It kicked off with the Bugatti Tourbillon, that wild, 1775-horsepower V16 hybrid beast, which debuted back in June. But with rumors of successors to the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari in the air, I knew that we’d have something along the lines of what now appears to be shaping up to be the new-age holy trinity: absolute madness.

What was once destined to successor to the 918 Spyder, can soon be experienced in the popular racing game
Ah!! Porsche and online racing, while I may not be much of a gamer these days, this is an experience that goes back decades for me. My PC gaming journey began with the legendary NFS: Porsche Unleashed back in 2000. That game got me hooked, even leading me to compete professionally! So, when Ubisoft unveiled the Porsche 919 Street tearing up the tarmac in The Crew Motorfest’s latest trailer, I was undoubtedly curious to learn more. (Mark your calendars: Crew Motorfest Year 2 update kicks off November 6th, 2024!)
The Most Fuel-Efficient Porsche Cayenne On Sale Today

2025 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS
For the 992.2 generation, Porsche massages the Carrera 4 GTS with a new 532-horsepower T-Hybrid powertrain and enhances the cabin with a 12.6-inch all-digital cluster plus wireless Android Auto.
The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS marks a significant evolution in the iconic sports car’s lineage. As part of the 992.2 generation refresh, this model introduces the first-ever hybrid powertrain in a production 911. The new T-Hybrid system pairs an all-new 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six with a 48 volt electric turbocharger and a transmission-mounted motor to put out 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet. This delivers 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph. While the hybrid powertrain improves performance and efficiency, it also adds 110 pounds to the car’s weight and increases complexity. Porsche axed the seven-speed manual transmission option, so the combo of hybrid engine and loss of manual transmission will disappoint purists.
Family-Feud: How Lamborghini Urus SE Stacks Up Against The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid
While both pack a similar hybrid powertrain underneath the skin, find out what makes these sports SUVs from within the VW Group, truly distinct
Lamborghini is on a roll, electrifying its lineup one model at a time. The Italian automaker kicked things off with the Revuelto, their first-ever plug-in hybrid supercar with a whopping 1,001 horsepower. Then came the Urus SE, a hybrid SUV that’s more than just a green machine - it’s a performance powerhouse. And let’s not forget the Temerario, the Huracan’s electrifying successor, boasting a brand-new V8 hybrid setup that churns out 907 horsepower.
How Lamborghini’s V8 Hybrid System Differs From Porsche’s T-Hybrid
Lamborghini's Temerario may be the flashy performance hybrid, but here's why Porsche's electrified 911 is an understated and equally impressive contender
After a year of spy shots and whispers about what was brewing in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the Lamborghini Huracán’s successor has finally arrived: the Temerario. This isn’t just another V8 hybrid, folks. We’re talking a 907-horsepower, plug-in hybrid supercar with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 developed in-house by Lamborghini. It features a flat-plane crankshaft, that revs up to an astonishing 10,000 RPM. Now, it wasn’t long ago that Porsche too announced its juicy T-Hybrid system with the 992.2 911 Carrera GTS that packs an electrified turbocharger and an electric motor in the gearbox, but no plug-in option, making it a mild hybrid.
2025 Lamborghini Temerario
While a plug-in hybrid Huracan successor may deter many Lamborghini aficionados, the new Temerario mates a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three motors to produce north of 900 ponies, which screaming its heart out at 10,000 rpm.
Lamborghini has unveiled the all-new 2025 Temerario, a cutting-edge hybrid supercar that succeeds the iconic Huracan, which reigned supreme from 2014 to 2024. For the first time, this all-new baby Lambo combines a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors, delivering a staggering 907 horsepower to catapult from 0-62 mph in a mere 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 213 mph. While the hybrid powertrain offers improved efficiency and uses a small-sized battery to offer electric driving up to short distances, not all Lambo lovers will appreciate the advancements, considering naturally aspirated engines are slowly dying, and the 5.2-liter V10 was just sublime.
Porsche's Hybrid Heartbreak: Why The New Hybrid 911 Spells Doom for Tuners
While the new T-Hybrid system promises gains in performance and efficiency, here's how it presents one big challenge for aftermarket tuners to overcome
An engineer from Porsche claims that its new hybrid powertrain in the new 911 cannot be tuned. It is not a challenge from the brand for aftermarket tuners to try their luck or anything of the sort. They believe their new electric turbo system is too complicated to be tinkered with. They are however open to ingenuity and have left the E.C.U. unlocked for you to try. Tuners are a mad bunch of people and are no doubt looking forward to the challenge.
Should You Consider A 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Over The 992.1 911 Turbo?
With similar performance numbers, find out if its worth spending the extra cash for the outgoing 911 Turbo, or wait for the upcoming 911 GTS
The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS is making a grand entrance, not just as a new model but as a technological trailblazer within the iconic 911 family. Its groundbreaking T-Hybrid system is set to become a mainstay in the upcoming 992 models, which is perfect because it all runs in the background, and you wouldn’t feel any difference apart from increased engine responsiveness.
Here's How The Bugatti Tourbillon Compares To The Rimac Nevera
Two different vehicles, two different powertrain technologies, developed under the same boss
Bugatti has dropped its latest masterpiece, the Tourbillon, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from the French automaker before. This bad boy isn’t just another W16-powered behemoth, oh no. It’s a hybrid hypercar with a heart that’ll make even the most die-hard gearlhead weak in the knees.
Mysterious Nürburgring Record-Setting Porsche Revealed As The 2025 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
Porsche releases fresh on-board footage of how the new Panamera's flagship trim went around the 'Ring in 7:24.172
Earlier this week, Porsche issued a press release about an upcoming top-end Panamera variant that set a new Nürburgring record. At the time, the German automaker did not reveal the specific trim that climbed to the top spot in the Executive cars class with combustion engines and hybrid powertrains. Porsche simply referred to it as the ’Panamera Top-Model’. But just a few hours back, a new video of the record-setting lap went live on Porsche’s social channels, confirming the record-setting model as the 2025 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid alongside the announcement of the Panamera GTS. Test driver Lars Kern, a veteran of the Nordschleife set a new record with a time of 7:24.172, beating the outgoing model generation’s time by 5.64 seconds. Back in July 2020, Kern set a time of 7:29.81 minutes in the Panamera Turbo S, but later that year in November, the Mercedes AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ managed to beat that record with a time of 7:27.800.
Here's Why The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Does NOT Feature Acid Green Accents Despite Packing Hybrid-Tech
While this bold shade has been used on Porsche's mainstream Cayenne and Panamera hybrids, there's a simple reason why the latest 911 GTS does not feature it
The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS has made quite an impression among enthusiasts, thanks to Porsche’s spanking-new hybrid system that doesn’t have a charging port. Everything works in the background, making you believe that it’s a normal 911 with only a flat-six engine. But that’s not the case, you see. The latest 992.2 911 Carrera GTS features a brand-new 3.6-liter flat-six with a single electrified turbocharger. There’s another electric motor squeezed between the eight-speed PDK and the flat-six. Together, the hybrid powertrain churns out an amazing 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque.
Porsche T-Hybrid Vs. E-Hybrid: What's The Difference?
While both say hybrid on the tin, there are few fundamental distinctions between the two technologies
With E.V. sales decreasing, hybrids are making a comeback, even in the high-performance segment. But let’s not kid ourselves; hybrid technology is complex. It’s a delicate dance between the ICE (internal combustion engine) and electrical components, working together perfectly to deliver the best of both worlds. We’re talking about a combustion engine, electric motor(s), battery packs, power electronics, wiring, and all sorts of high-tech wizardry. It’s not as simple as just slapping an electric motor onto an existing gas-powered engine - it requires careful engineering and integration to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
A New Era Hybrid Super Sedans: Here's Why The 2025 BMW M5 Weighs More Than A Full-Size Pickup
To find out if going hybrid has cost it dearly, we stack the new M5 against the Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid
The seventh-generation BMW M5 is here, and it’s packing a serious punch with a whopping 717 horsepower, roughly 100 more horses than before. This super-sedan is the most powerful in BMW’s stable, thanks to a new S68 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and a powerful e-motor inside the eight-speed ZF automatic. But before you plan to start doing donuts in your driveway, there’s a catch: this beast has put on some serious weight due to all the electrical components.

Diving into the technical aspects, Clen identified the T-hybrid turbo setup as the most complex feature of the car. Their goal with this system was to create something that captured the essence of hybrid performance without the traditional weight burden of a typical hybrid. Achieving consistent performance was obviously paramount, and Porsche collaborated closely with their Motorsports division, drawing inspiration from successful cars like the 919 Le Mans racer. This collaborative effort yielded a new breed of hybrid if you will, one that balances performance with efficiency,
