Ah!! Porsche and online racing, while I may not be much of a gamer these days, this is an experience that goes back decades for me. My PC gaming journey began with the legendary NFS: Porsche Unleashed back in 2000. That game got me hooked, even leading me to compete professionally! So, when Ubisoft unveiled the Porsche 919 Street tearing up the tarmac in The Crew Motorfest’s latest trailer, I was undoubtedly curious to learn more. (Mark your calendars: Crew Motorfest Year 2 update kicks off November 6th, 2024!)

The Crew Motorfest’s Interpretation Of The Porsche 919 Street

The Porsche 919 Street featured in The Crew Motorfest is a sight to behold. This Street version, as the name implies is essentially a street-legal version of the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid EVO racecar, that packs a turbocharged engine with an electric motor for a combined 900 horsepower.

The 919 Street, was supposed to be the successor to the 918 Spyder, but the project was abandoned due to technical difficulties. Porsche did build a one-off working prototype, though. So, while you can’t enjoy the 919 Street in real life, you can at least push it to its limits in the virtual world.

Styled by Porsche’s design boss, Michael Mauer, the car is instantly recognizable with its iconic four-point headlights, a distinctive H-pattern LED full-width light bar, and a futuristic yoke steering wheel inside. The "Le Mans Paket" inscription on one of the side fins reminds you of the car’s racing pedigree. The "Turbonite" badge proudly displayed on the car hints at its turbocharged engine.

As for the game itself, The Crew Motorfest which launched about a year ago, is more than just a digital garage for dream cars, even iconic ones like the 919 Street. It is a vibrant escape from reality to a meticulously crafted Oahu, Hawaii. I’ve always had a soft spot for the island, having extensively explored its stunning landscapes virtually in the 2006 game, Test Drive Unlimited, a franchise that is also making a major comeback with the upcoming Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.

The Crew Motorfest’s rendition of Oahu island appears to be incredibly detailed, perfectly capturing the place’s spirit. From the lush rainforests to the pristine beaches, it looks like a joy to drive through. The "Playlists" feature keeps things fresh with unique themed events, ensuring there’s always something new to discover. The white 919 Street seen in the trailer, seems to be tearing up the streets of Hawaii’s capital city of Honolulu. Also, here’s a look at some epic Porsche’s already in the game.

This isn’t a solitary paradise, though. The Crew Motorfest thrives on the social aspect. Team up with friends, form a Crew (get it?), and conquer challenges together. Crew Motorfest might not be a real Hawaiian vacation, but it’s a pretty darn good escape. It’s a chance to reconnect with your inner car lover, explore a virtual paradise with friends, and maybe, just maybe, forget about the real world for a bit.

You can jump in on the action on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Ubisoft Connect PC, Epic Games Store, Luna, and Steam. The game’s even included in the Ubisoft+ subscription, so there’s no excuse to miss out on this upcoming update!

As for the 919, here’s Supercar Blondie, showing us around the only example in existence.
