2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S: A Performance SUV That Should Be On Your Radar
Beyond its limited production run for a single model year, here's why you should bid on this pristine hard-to-find 955 Cayenne Turbo S
Remember the early 2000s? Back when flip phones were peak tech and Britney was rocking a shaved head? That’s also when Porsche dropped a bomb called the Cayenne. Sure, some folks scoffed – a Porsche SUV? But here’s the thing: the Cayenne, along with the Boxster, saved Porsche’s bacon. They were the volume sellers that funded glorious things like the Carrera GT. Plus, they practically invented the whole "sporty SUV" thing. (Yes, yes, I know the Lamborghini LM002 came first, but the Cayenne brought it mainstream.)
2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia: A Factory-Built Off-Roader Worth Collecting
With just 285 examples ever built, this is your chance to get your hands on this extremely rare gen-1 Cayenne that packs some proper off-road chops
The Porsche Cayenne is a name synonymous with luxury and sportiness and, perhaps less so, off-road prowess. But what if we told you there’s a Cayenne that can tackle sand dunes with the same aplomb it tackles Rodeo Drive? While this might look like any other Cayenne to the average Joe, to the eagle-eyed amongst you, you know that this one is special. This, my friends, is the 2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia that’s come up for sale on Bring-a-Trailer, is a ridiculously rare (only 285 made!) off-road-ready beast that’ll have you conquering sand dunes and carving up canyons in equal measure.
2009 RUF Dakara: A Cayenne With A 911 Face
With only a handful in existence, this highly collectible Cayenne-based Super SUV is one that most Porsche fans have probably never heard of
Ruf, the legendary German tuner known for breathing fire into Porsches, recently unveiled its off-road-ready Rodeo at the Monterey Car Week. While it certainly was a head-turner and one of the highlight models this year, it’s not the first time that the German tuner has gotten its feet wet with a high-riding model. Enter the Ruf Dakara, a forgotten hero from the mid-2000s that deserves a place in the Super SUV Hall of Fame.
Iconic And Irreplaceable: The Last Air-Cooled 911 Ever Built Hits The Auction Block
Dubbed 'The Last Waltz', find out why this Type-993 is a collector's dream and of immense historical significance to the Porsche brand
Bonhams is set to auction a very special 993-generation 911 Turbo at Goodwood Revival Collectors’ Motor Cars And Automobilia. Officially named ’The Last Waltz’, it is the last air-cooled Porsche to be built and released from Zuffenhausen. An important milestone in the brand’s history, the Last Waltz was built at the factory on March 27, 1998. It’s too bad that I was only eight years old and completely oblivious to history unfolding. It was commissioned via the Sonderwunsh program for German Author Clauss Vanderborg. Jerry Seinfeld’s famed 993 Carrera 4S Cabriolet was finished and delivered on 31st March, shortly after the Last Waltz came off the line. However, the latter spent six months with the special wish wing of the brand getting specially kitted out with a bunch of aesthetic and mechanical modifications.
Hollywood Legend: Steve McQueen's Le Mans Starring 1970 Porsche 917K Could Shatter Auction Records At Kissimmee
The iconic gulf liveried race car, has the potential to become the most expensive Porsche to ever cross the block
Strap yourselves in, gearheads, because a piece of automotive and cinematic history will soon hit the auction block, and it’s gonna make your wallet weep. Remember that #20 Porsche 917k that stole the show in Steve McQueen’s Le Mans? Yeah, the one with the screaming flat-12 and the Gulf Oil livery so good it should be illegal? That very car, chassis number 917-022, is getting ready to trade hands in January 2025 at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction.
Wingless Wonder: A 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring That's Priced Below Average
With just 1,100-mile on the clock, here's why this 911 GT3 Touring finished in (PTS) superior red metallic is a great deal
Look, let’s be honest. Every other Porsche 911 on the road these days looks like it escaped from a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon’s office. All bloated and overdone. But this 2022 GT3 Touring? This, my friends, is a Porsche with a purpose. First off, the paint. Forget boring ol’ black or white. This example is dipped in a paint-to-sample Superior Red metallic (W10), a rare PTS color. Yeah, that’s right. Now, I haven’t seen it in person, but from the pictures, it sure does pop. It’s more burgundy wine than red. While most GT cars are adorned in a loud shade with the RS models even getting graphics, this wingless 911 appears to be a track weapon or canyon carver for the discerning gentleman.
Porsche 911 Offroad By Five Nine Design: Dakar Thrills For Less Than Half The Price
While the limited-run Dakar may be out of reach, here's your ticket to a safari-style 911 without breaking the bank
For many, the Porsche 911 is the ultimate sports car. Refined and versatile enough (in most of its variants) to be used on a daily basis, but also quick enough to put most exotic cars to shame. Every generation of the 911 gets its fair share of special editions. For the 992 generation, Porsche decided to bring back the Dakar monicker, originally used on the 1984 Porsche 953. That said, with only 2,500 examples of the modern-day Porsche 911 Dakar made, only the quickest and most resourceful of Porsche enthusiasts would have had the chance to get behind the wheel of the special 911 off-roader.
Investor Alert: This 911 Targa By Kreinzel Is One That Porsche NEVER Made
As the only one in existence, find out why this bespoke 993 Targa is undervalued and a golden opportunity for collectors
This is a 1994 Porsche 993 reinterpreted by the world-renowned restomod brand Kreinzel. Now live on the SBX Cars auction platform owned by renowned YouTuber Supercar Blondie, this 993 Targa is a one-of-one creation, with just 223 miles at the time of writing this article. I say one-off because it has some truly unique traits you won’t find on a standard 993 Targa that Porsche made back in the day.
Ferdinand Piëch's Porsche 959 Vorserie Is Up for Grabs
Set to cross the auction block at RM Sotheby's, this ultra-rare 959 prototype was once owned by one of the most influential personalities of the auto industry
We’re just a few days away from the Monterey Car Week and I have my radar on a few cars this year. One that caught my attention is this 1985 Porsche 959 (Vorserie), being auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s. Now the 959 is already pretty rare and special, but this particulate example was owned by the great, Dr.Ferdinand Piëch, Ferdinand Porsche’s grandson, who headed the Volkswagen Group for close to twenty years. Pïech of course was a key figure not just in Porsche motorsports but was also instrumental in reshaping the Volkswagen group along with bringing several noteworthy brands like Bugatti, Bentley, and Lamborghini under the VW umbrella. For those unaware, Porsche built several prototypes of the 959. Dubbed “V5KOM” or V5, this example is one of just five surviving Vorserie (V-Series) prototypes.
Own A Piece Of Racing History: The Irreplaceable Porsche 935-001
Set to cross the auction block at the upcoming Monterey Car Week, this was THE car that served as the base for the legendary 935 series
The world of automotive history is replete with iconic vehicles that have shaped and captured the imagination of enthusiasts. Among these, the Porsche 935 stands as a symbol of engineering prowess and racing dominance. However, even within this legendary lineage, one car stands apart: chassis 935-001. When I first learned about this 1976 Porsche 935 in the iconic Martini colors, chassis 935-001, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of history behind its sleek lines and aggressive stance. What you’re looking at here is the first 935 ever built, a factory prototype that played a pivotal role in Porsche’s racing legacy. Estimated to fetch anywhere between $4,500,000 to $5,500,000 with Gooding and Company at the upcoming Monterey Car Week, it’s a piece of motorsport history that any prestigious car collector could only dream about owning.
Rare Gem With Remarkable Returns: 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Comes Up For Sale Again
Find out why this limited-run track only 991.2 GT2 RS is a lucrative investement for serious Porsche collectors
Porsche unleashed its ultimate 991 at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport was the 991 generation’s swan song, a track-only monster stripped down to its racing essence. The Clubsport was the road-going GT2 RS on steroids, based on the 991.2. It took everything that made the standard car a legend – insane power, razor-sharp handling, and a hunger for speed – and amplified it to eleven. But unlike its road-legal sibling, the Clubsport was stripped of creature comforts and lavished with race-ready components, transforming it into a pure-bred track weapon. This particular 2019 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, chassis number 39 of a limited 200-unit run, now up for sale is about as close to a street-legal Le Mans prototype as you can get without needing a FIA license and a team of mechanics on retainer.
Risky Business Porsche 928: Own 'THE' Car That Taught Tom Cruise How To Drive Stick
Set to cross the auction block soon, this movie car is of historical significance for Hollywood buffs and Porsche fans alike
If you’re a fan of Tom Cruise like I am (Top Gun fan here), a piece of cinematic history from one of his earliest hits is set to roll across the auction block. The iconic ’79 Porsche 928 Coupe (Chassis no. 9289201213), immortalized in the classic 1983 film "Risky Business”. It’s not that long ago, that this very car crossed the auction block at Barrett Jackson back in 2021 for $1.8 million. Now; it will be once again offered at auction, this time at the Bonhams’ Quail Auction in Carmel, California, at the upcoming Monterey Car Week (August 16, 2024).
Collector's Dream: This Ultra-Rare 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Rennversion Could Shatter Auction Records At Monterey
Find out why this pristine 993 911 GT1 Le Mans race car has the makings of the most expensive Porsche to cross the auction block
Porsche has no shortage of iconic race cars that have dominated in motorsports, and one very race 911 model is about to be the main star at the upcoming, Monterey Auction (August 14 and 15). We are referring to the only mid-engine Porsche 911 in existence – the GT1. The low-slung supercar was developed by Porsche for endurance racing like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What’s special about this particular 911 GT1 is that, unlike, most cars that were used in endurance racing, this mid-engine Porsche was kept in surprisingly good condition, even after scoring many racing wins. The Porsche race car was freshly listed (on July 16, 2024) on Broad Arrow Auctions, and judging by the car’s estimated value, this 911 GT1 has the potential to become one of the most expensive Porsches ever sold, at an auction.
Place Your Bids: Ultra-Rare 1 Of 77 Porsche 935 Race Car Shows Up For Sale On SBX Cars
Built to celebrate Porsche's motorsports legacy from the '70s, this pristine example only has 37 miles on the clock
The Porsche 935 is a track-only racecar unveiled to commemorate the brand’s 70th anniversary at the Rennsport Reunion VI in 2018. It is based on the 911 GT2 RS and is finished in matte carbon over black to give it a raw carbon fiber appearance. It is a modern homage to the legendary 935 K endurance race car and is one of only 77 units made. When it came out, Porsche offered its customers a choice of eight exterior wraps with a selection of classic racing liveries. Now the cost of these cars varied depending on the livery and other options chosen, however, they did go upwards of a million dollars if you wanted to own one new. The 935, and the racecar to which it pays homage, has a famed aerodynamic body that earned it the nickname ’Moby Dick’, thanks to its sweeping ’Whale Tail’ rear end.
'80s Icon: Rare Porsche 959 Goes Under The Hammer For An Eye-Watering $1.8 Million
Having held the title of fastest production car in the world in 1986, this pristine example is one of 292 ever made, and represents Porsche royalty
The Porsche 959 is a halo supercar from the ’80s, that was ahead of its time for a number of innovations. Essentially, a predecessor to the 918 Spyder and the iconic Carrera GT, the 959 started out as a Group B Rally car, known internally as the 953. The 953s were initially entered in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, finishing 1st, 6th, and 25th. Porsche built the 959 as a road-legal version to satisfy F.I.A. homologation regulations, which required a brand to make at least 200 units.
