What The Latest Spy Shots Of The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR Reveal

In what appears to be the most extreme 992 GT3 RS in the making, here's what Manthey Racing may have in store

Let’s face it, the standard Porsche 992 GT3 RS is already a track monster. It’s a car that thrives on pushing limits, begging to be unleashed on the world’s most demanding circuits and race tracks. But for some drivers, "enough" is never enough. Enter the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR, an extreme machine set to be unleashed by the combined might of Porsche and their long-time racing partner, Manthey Racing. I’ve been following the development of this car closely for a while now, and am absolutely blown away by the sheer amount of engineering that’s gone into it. Not too long ago, an un-camouflaged white prototype was spotted at the Nordschleife, giving us an up-close look at the possible performance upgrades that Manthey is cooking up. Based on what I’ve seen in the spy shots from CarSpyMedia, I wanted to highlight some of the features of this performance racing kit.

Aerodynamics on Steroids

The core of any Manthey Performance Kit revolves around two key areas: aerodynamics and handling. The first thing that should grab your attention on the upcoming 911 GT3 RS MR is the insane aero. It’s aggressive, almost predatory. The massive active swan-neck rear wing with its central Le-Mans style stabilizer fin, which now sits on a panel instead of the rear windscreen, should equate to more lateral stability.

Combine that with vortex generators on the roof and a redesigned rear diffuser, and you’re looking at a significant increase in downforce, particularly at high speeds. The current 992.1 GT3 RS already produces 1,895 pounds of downforce, whereas LMP1-class cars develop between 2000-3000 pounds of downforce and current F1 cars develop around 5,000 pounds of downforce at speed. Remember, downforce is your friend on the track. It keeps your tires planted, allowing you to carry more speed through corners and attack those apexes with unwavering confidence.

Aero Highlights of the GT3 RS MR

  • Completely redesigned front splitter with dive planes

  • Larger canards behind the front and rear wheels

  • Huge horizontal fin replacing the rear window for lateral stability

  • Enormous triplane rear wing with even larger end plates

  • Six roof fins for airflow stabilization around the rear wing

  • An aggressive rear diffuser inspired by the 911 RSR

More Than Just Aero

But the Manthey magic probably won’t stop there. Also expect, adjustable coilovers, which will allow you to fine-tune your suspension for the perfect balance between comfort and razor-sharp handling. Lightweight magnesium wheels (could save up to 26 pounds) with aero discs saving precious pounds off the car’s weight, further enhancing agility.

Let’s also not rule out upgraded brake pads and braided lines. Shedding warp speed will require serious stopping power. While I can’t confirm if we’ll get any power upgrades, the evocative soundtrack from this prototype’s naturally aspirated flat-six is music to my ears.

The Price of (Track) Glory

Now, let’s talk money. All this performance engineering obviously won’t come cheap. For some context, a Manthey Racing kit for the 911 GT3 will set you back $60,500. From what I can tell, I think this kit will be far more expensive. But for serious track enthusiasts, that price tag might be a small price to pay, if we’re talking about saving precious seconds on the race-track.

Speaking of the race track, the stock 992 GT3 RS boasts a blistering Nürburgring lap time of 6:49.328, sitting 4th in the list of top 10 fastest production cars around the Nordschleife. With Manthey’s enhancements, the expectation is to shave a big chunk off that already impressive benchmark, but given that it will be an aftermarket kit, it won’t qualify to get on the list for Nürburgring lap time records.

A Track-Day Dream

In summary, the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR with the Manthey Performance Kit should represent a significant leap in terms of track performance. With its focus on aerodynamics and handling enhancements, this package not only promises to improve lap times but should also enrich the driving experience for those seeking peak performance on the racetrack.

However, given that only a fraction of GT3 RS owners ever hit the race track, I wonder why Porsche and Manthey Racing are going to such lengths to create something so extreme. Given that these kits are developed with Porsche’s blessing, could this be a precursor to the GT-line of cars for the 992.2 series? Time will tell, and thankfully I think we won’t have to wait too long to learn more given how production-ready the car looks in these spy shots.
