Brace yourself for not one, but two GT models of the 992.2 generation
by Khris Bharath on October 15, 2024, 10:35The wait is finally over! We’ve been poring over those blurry spy shots for months now, speculating on the finer points of the new 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3. But the guessing game is officially done. Mark your calendars for October 18th, because that’s when Porsche throws the digital confetti and unveils the next chapter of the brand’s naturally-aspirated story in all its glory.
Word on the track (pun intended) is that we’re getting not one, but two new GT variants. Andreas Preuninger, the mastermind behind Porsche’s GT lineup, is set to take the stage alongside racing legends Walter Röhrl and Jörg Bergmeister. These guys know their Porsches, and if they’re involved, you know this reveal is going to be something special.
Set against a black backdrop, the teaser doesn’t reveal much, but I can see a more pronounced wing, what appears to be a full-width lightbar and Porsche’s signature four-point LED headlights up front. These could take the form of what we’ve seen on the latest 992.2 Carrera.
Porsche is keeping technical details under wraps for now, but they’re promising "enhanced" performance, "increased individuality", and a sprinkle of "innovative details" on top. Based on spy shots, we’ve done an in-depth analysis on the upcoming 992.2 GT3 that you can read here. More power and even more aero seems imminent. expected Unlike the upcoming 992.2 Turbos, we don’t expect the 911 GT line to go hybrid anytime soon. Sounds like a recipe for a truly epic 911. I can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up in Flacht this time around.
Luckily, we won’t have to wait long. The world premiere will be streamed live this Friday, October 18th at 18:30 CEST on the Porsche Newsroom, YouTube channel, and LinkedIn. If you’re a Porsche fanatic like me, you won’t want to miss this.
