2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo

Porsche refreshes the Taycan Cross Turismo lineup, giving the Turbo variant an updated dual-motor powertrain that unleashes a whopping 817 horses, capable of launching from 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds

by MotorheadOne on June 3, 2024, 10:30

The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo is an all-electric, high-performance five-seater wagon that combines the practicality of a family hauler with the exhilarating performance expected from a Porsche. In the Taycan Cross Turismo lineup, this Turbo model sits one below the flagship Turbo S trim.

Despite being second-in-line, it boasts a 697-horsepower dual-motor electric powertrain, with 871 horsepower available once you activate Boost mode. This results in 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, putting it in the same league as some of the quickest supercars. Its all-electric powertrain is equipped with a 93.4 kWh battery that can be recharged from 5-80 percent in about 22 minutes.

It’s just about straight-line speed, either. Adaptive air suspension comes standard, while the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport balances comfort and dynamics.

It gains a refreshed front and rear end, with updated LED headlamps, new wheels, and badge colors. Inside, the cabin welcomes new microfiber textile upholstery, an optimized interface for the infotainment system, and a new controller for easier access to safety systems.

Prices start at $187,600. While the Taycan sedan doesn’t lack competition, the wagon counterpart is a distinctive offering among electric luxury sports cars, dominating the market with no real competitors. Does the refreshed Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo meet expectations, and how does the new model compare with the older one? It’s time to find out what it packs.

What’s new?

The new Turbo Cross Turismo gets a more powerful dual-motor powertrain, making up to 871 horsepower to gallop to sixty in 2.6 seconds. Charging is faster, too, with speeds up to 320 kW possible under ideal conditions.

It comes standard with adaptive air suspension, but Porsche Active Ride suspension is optional. Efficiency improvements come from an advanced powertrain, optimized software, more powerful batteries, and better thermal management.

Styling updates include a refreshed front and rear end and a new Turbonite accent badging. The interior offers new leather-free options. An updated interface enhances the user experience with additional functions and intuitive operation. Otherwise, things mostly remain the same.

The updated exterior design gets even bolder

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153145

The new exterior design melds athleticism and uniqueness in the guise of a wagon body style. Porsche updated the styling with subtle enhancements like a reworked front and rear end. The fascia features HD-Matrix Design LED headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), which adjusts the beam pattern to the driving conditions for improving visibility.

The new three-dimensional Porsche logo at the rear can be illuminated to add a sophisticated touch, though some might find it flashy. The sculpted hood and pronounced fenders give the vehicle a powerful stance, while the sloping roofline, rooftop spoiler, and diffuser create a sporty coupe profile.

One of its standout features is its increased ground clearance, laying a more rugged appearance compared to the standard Taycans. Its design, combined with the Off-Road Design Package, includes additional body cladding and skid plates, presents a sturdy touch, and makes it versatile for handling light off-road conditions. However, these elements look superficial, given the vehicle’s primary focus on performance and luxury.

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153139

The panoramic fixed glass roof allows more light to enter the cabin, and the optional Variable Light Control feature lets you adjust the intensity of daylight. However, since the fixed glass roof doesn’t open, buyers looking for a tilt-and-slide feature might be disappointed.

Customization options are plentiful, with various exterior colors, finishes, graphics, and wheels. Buyers get 15 exterior colors, divided among four sections: "Contrast," "Shade," "Dreams," and "Legends," among which opting for "Legends" requires $2,850. If you want a custom paintjob, there is a "$13,150 Paint to Sample" and "$30,020 Paint to Sample Plus" program, with the latter costing more than a Hyundai Elantra N Line.

20-inch Sport Aero wheels with all-season tires are standard, but you can choose among various optional wheels ranging from 20 to 21 inches, plus all-season, summer, or winter tires. Buyers can also select among a wide range of options, such as carbon fiber exterior touches, silver or gloss black trims, puddle lights, decals, and badges finished in satin or gloss black.

An updated e-powertrain for higher power and faster performance

Benchmarks the EV sector with typical "Porsche" handling
Features like Torque Vectoring Plus, PSM Sport Mode, Active Ride suspension, and rear-wheel-steering offer an unforgettable driving experience.

Like all Taycan Cross Turismo trims, the Turbo trim also receives a powertrain upgrade for the 2025 model year. Underneath lies a dual-motor all-electric powertrain, with the front and rear axles fitting an individual motor. The front and rear motors combine to produce 697 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque, 81 horsepower and 20 pound-feet more than the 2024 model. Like its sedan sibling, it gets a an "Overboost Power" mode that unlocks 871 horsepower, which is a whopping 201 horses increase over the former model.

With this increased output, this electric luxury wagon now takes just 2.6 seconds to reach 60 mph on the cluster, a half-second faster than the 2024 model. It takes 10.3 seconds to reach a quarter-mile and offers a top speed of 155 mph. Considering the 0-60 mph and quarter-mile acceleration are ridiculously fast, the top speed feels disappointing, but lets face it, it’s still fast enough for swift cruising on the highway.

While its straight-line performance is shattering, the Taycan isn’t for everyone. Porsche fans may find the absence of an emotional connection and visceral experience associated with Porsche’s iconic flat-six mill. The electric motors’ instant torque delivery and near-silent operation fail to evoke emotions aroused by high-revving gas engines.

Porsche pairs the electric powertrain with a bigger battery than before. It includes a massive 105-kWh battery with a net capacity of 97-kWh. We don’t know the range estimates yet, but considering the motors make more power, we expect it to be around 230 miles.

Peace of mind with a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty
A 4-year/50,000-mile drivetrain warranty, roadside assistance, and 8 8-year/100,000-mile e-powertrain warranty. Corrosion and perforation are covered for 12 years or unlimited miles.

Despite the many positives in the performance department, it falls short in overall driving range compared to the gas-engine-propelled Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo, which delivers a range of 497.7 miles. Moreover, the real-world range will vary significantly based on driving style and surface types.

The 97-kWh battery supports up to 320-kW DC fast charging, which recharges the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes, a common time among luxury cars. Otherwise, it takes 33 minutes with 150-kW DC fast charging and up to seven or twelve hours with home chargers.

A high-end cabin with premium comfort and modern tech goodies

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Interior storyboard - image 153129

Porsche didn’t incorporate any changes to the Turbo Cross Turismo’s interior design, but it features some infotainment improvements. However, the four-seater cabin still continues to impresse with its styling and comfort, thanks to the modern design and high-quality materials. The dashboard is dominated with large screens, and includes piano black accents. Buyers needing a sportier look can opt for carbon fiber, dark silver or aluminum inlays, contrast stitching and Neodyme (bronze accents), while optional Paldao wood accents adds an earthy tone.

Artificial leather seats are standard, but some color combinations cost $570. New Race-Tex microfiber upholstery is a no-cost option if you want a leather-free interior. If you want a luxurious touch, club leather seats start at $2,450.

Seating is spacious, with adequate headroom and legroom for all passengers. 14-way comfort seats with heating, memory, and four-way lumbar support are standard. If you need ventilated front seats, it requires $850 extra, which most buyers won’t like, considering this car starts at $176,300. Ventilated and massaged front seats cost $1,810 extra.

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Interior storyboard - image 153126

If you want to increase the passenger capacity to five, a 2+1 rear row adds another $480, which should’ve been a no-cost option, in our opinion. For high-spirited drivers or buyers looking to use this car on tracks, Porsche offers 18-way adaptive sports seats with memory and lumbar support as a no-cost option, something most buyers will install.

From a technology perspective, the Taycan features a 16.8-inch curved instrument display and a 10.9-inch central touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Upgrades include a 10.9-inch front passenger touchscreen and a rear-seat entertainment system packing two 10.1-inch touchscreens. However, the reliance on screens and touch controls can be overwhelming for some users, who prefer more physical buttons for essential functions.

A Bose 14-speaker surround audio set delivers crisp audio quality, but music lovers can opt for a Bose 21-speaker 3D audio system at $5,810 extra.

Seating provides adequate room on both rows, and the practicality is respectable for a luxury sports car, with 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which can be expanded to 41.3 cubic feet after folding the rear seats. Since it’s an EV, the absence of the engine merits 3.0 cubic feet of front storage space.

Standout interior features

  • 14-way adaptive sports seats

  • Heated, ventilated, and massaged front seats

  • Carbon fiber, aluminum, or wooden inlays

  • 16.8-inch curved instrument display

  • 10.9-inch touchscreen and front passenger display

  • Dual 10.1-inch rear touchscreens

  • 21-speaker Bose 3D audio system

  • Race-Tex leather-free upholstery

Inherits Porsche’s typical handling genes to benchmark the EV segment

What comes to your mind after hearing the "term" Porsche? A generic answer would be the 911, but for Porsche loyalists, it’s how a "Porsche" drives and handles. Similar to the norm, the new Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo isn’t different. Its dual-motor unit forms an all-wheel-drive system paired with the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system to ensure optimal power distribution and traction in various driving conditions.

This car includes cutting-edge features like Torque Vectoring Plus and PSM Sport Mode to enhance agility and control, allowing drivers to take confident corners precisely. Goodies like an optional rear-wheel steering system allow the rear wheels to rotate in the same or opposite direction to reduce the turning radius or add more high-speed agility.

Porsche pairs the chassis with Active Ride suspension using electronic adaptive dampers. These advanced suspension comes with performance tunings, using stiffer settings to absorb body roll during sharp turns, corners and other evasive maneuvers. However, since they are tuned for performance, ride quality is mostly rough, and activating sports modes worsens the ride quality at the cost of stability. In addition, its massive battery, e-motors, and other mechanicals cause it to weigh 5,185 pounds, which makes it less agile than gas-powered Porsches like the 911 or 718.

The drivetrain is coupled to an electric power steering rack, which feels precise and smooth like you expect from a German sports car. However, like most electric racks, it feels numb with virtually no feedback. Another reason to consider the 911 Turbo S?

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153117

16.1-inch front and 14.4-inch rear vented disc brakes are standard and provide decent stopping capabilities during daily driving or at high speeds. If you’re looking to test the 697-horsepower powertrain on tracks, Porsche offers Ceramic Composite Brakes, with 16.5-inch front rotors with ten-piston calipers and 16.1-inch rear discs with four-piston calipers for upgraded stopping power.

This car includes 20-inch Sport Aero wheels with all-season tires to emphasize versatility for daily driving and high-speed highway cruising. For performance, there are 21-inch wheels with summer tires for extra grip. Drivers living in colder climates can opt for winter tires.

What safety features are there?

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153114

Because of its high price, neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS have tested the Taycan (Turbo Cross Turismo), so its safety ratings aren’t available. Porsche packs this car with several modern driver assist and active safety technologies to help drivers dodge accidents and keep occupants safe.

Standard safety features

  • Traffic sign recognition

  • Front and rear park assist with reverse camera

  • Lane keep assist with lane change assist

  • Active speed limiter

Conclusion: The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo is better than ever

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153133

The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo is a remarkable electric wagon combining exhilarating performance and luxurious comfort. It delivers lightning-fast acceleration and exceptional handling, making it a joy to drive. However, the stiff ride may not be to everyone’s liking, especially for those prioritizing a plusher driving experience.

In the cabin, it boasts a meticulously crafted interior with high-quality materials and advanced technology features and generous space for passengers and cargo, making it a practical choice for everyday use and weekend adventures. The wide range of customization options allows buyers to personalize the vehicle to their tastes, although this comes at a considerable cost.

While it excels at rapid acceleration, it also serves as a luxurious and refined cruiser. The smooth and quiet electric powertrain and the well-insulated cabin create a serene driving environment.

Compared to the 2024 model, the latest Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo offers incremental improvements in range, charging speed, and technology features. Whether these enhancements justify the extra cost depends on individual preferences and needs. Those prioritizing having the latest and greatest may find the 2025 model worth the investment, while others may find better value in the 2024 version.

However, if you’re looking for better handling and faster speed, the Taycan Turbo S sedan or the Audi RS e-tron GT makes more sense due to their lighter weight.

  • Expanded list of standard equipment for all models

For the 2025 model year, Porsche is giving the all-electric Taycan a particularly extensive update. The new versions benefit from more power, greater range, quicker acceleration and possibility of even faster charging. Porsche also sharpened the design and created greater differentiation for the Turbo models. All new Taycan versions feature a more extensive list of standard equipment and come equipped with the latest generation of the Porsche Driver Experience featuring an improved display and control concept.

Both body styles will offer this extensive list of enhancements – the Taycan sports sedan, and the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo, which is available with an off-road package. In each case, four powertrain options are available, with rear- and all-wheel drive variants. The upgraded sedan versions are scheduled to arrive at Porsche Centers in the U.S. from the summer, while the Cross Turismo models are expected to follow in the fall.

Globally, the sports car manufacturer has produced almost 150,000 examples of the Taycan. The most important individual markets for the Taycan are currently the US, the UK, Germany and China.

“We ushered in the new era of e-mobility with the Taycan at the end of 2019. It immediately proved to be a game changer and innovative pioneer in the e-vehicle segment,” says head of the Taycan model line, Kevin Giek. “We are now continuing this success story with the extensively updated Taycan. The model line has reached new heights in terms of performance, with exceptional driving dynamics and driving pleasure. At the same time, we were able to improve efficiency, range, day-to-day usability and comfort.”

Even higher performance

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153135

All updated models accelerate significantly faster than their predecessors. Two examples from both ends of the portfolio demonstrate this clearly: The rear-wheel drive Taycan sedan now sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, making it 0.6 seconds quicker than before. The new Taycan Turbo S sedan is now capable of reaching 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than previously, making it the quickest production car Porsche has ever offered to date.

With the new push-to-pass function as part of the Sport Chrono package, a boost of up to 70 kW, depending on the model, can be called upon for 10 seconds at the touch of a button. The increased acceleration rates are generally the result of higher system output. For example, the base Taycan delivers 60 kW more than before. In the Taycan Turbo S, it’s an additional 140 kW when using Launch Control. This increases the system output of the top model to 700 kW/938 hp – making it the most powerful production Porsche to date.

Faster charging potential

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153131

The updated Taycan has the ability to recharge even faster than before: It can be charged at 800-volt DC charging stations at up to 320 kW under ideal conditions. That’s 50 kW more than before. The fast-charging window of the new performance battery has been significantly expanded. This means that high charging capacities can be sustained for longer periods of time, even at lower temperatures. Also, now standard is a 150 kW DC/DC convertor, which aims to optimize charging speeds on 400-volt networks.

Depending on an individual’s driving style, among other variables, this can reduce the time required to go from a 10 to an 80 percent charge compared to the predecessor car. Under ideal conditions, the updated Taycan takes just 18 minutes despite its larger battery capacity. The Performance Battery Plus now has a gross capacity of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh.

New active chassis

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153143

All updated Taycan models come with adaptive air suspension as standard. Additionally, the new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for all models with all-wheel drive. This system offers an unprecedented bandwidth between driving comfort and driving dynamics.

The suspension keeps the body of the Taycan level at all times, even during dynamic braking, steering and acceleration. With a smooth ride, the system absorbs bumps almost completely. In dynamic driving situations, the Porsche Active Ride suspension aims for an optimal connection to the road thanks to a balanced distribution of wheel loads. If the appropriate mode is activated, the suspension can compensate for pitching and rolling motions in order to reduce the acceleration forces acting on the occupants.

Extensive efficiency measures

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Exterior storyboard - image 153139

The simultaneous improvement of performance and efficiency is down to a number of factors: an advanced powertrain with a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor on all models, a modified pulse inverter with optimized software, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, a next-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy.

The maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration from high speeds has increased by more than 30 percent from 290 to up to 400 kW. All variants now come as standard with aerodynamically optimized wheels and reduced-rolling-resistance tires. New 21-inch wheels and tires were specially developed for this purpose.

Significantly improved standard equipment

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Interior storyboard - image 153127

In the new 2025 Taycan models, the list of standard equipment is even more extensive than before. Lane Change Assist, heated steering wheel, Ambient lighting, electrically folding exterior mirrors with mirror surround lighting, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), a new cooling system, smartphone tray for wireless charging, electric charging ports on the driver and front passenger side and Drive Mode switch are all now standard features.

The entry level Taycan models are now also equipped with adaptive air suspension.. In addition to the upgraded equipment, the improved product specification includes a lighter battery with increased capacity.

Even more attractive design and extensive customization options

Surefooted slowing potential with ceramic composite brakes
Ceramic composite brakes with 16.5-inch front rotors and ten-piston calipers and 16.1-inch rear discs and four-piston calipers offer enhanced braking performance during track sessions and at high speeds.

With new front- and rear-end styling with new headlights and taillights, the experts at Style Porsche have further honed the clean, pure design of the Taycan. The new front fenders and the flatter headlights give even greater emphasis to the width of the Taycan.

The new headlights feature high-resolution LED HD-Matrix Design look with detailed optics and now display the brand’s characteristic four-point graphics at night. The Porsche logo in the rear light strip features a three-dimensional, glass-look design. An illuminated version of this is available for the first time, featuring welcome/leaving animations.

Among other notable features, the accent color, Turbonite, makes the Turbo and Turbo S models stand out more distinctively from the other Taycan versions in both the exterior and interior. Several new colors for the Taycan also underscore the level of customization possible.

There have also been a number of upgrades in the interior. The base models now also come as standard with door sill protectors in brushed aluminum.

Two new leather-free interior options in Black and Black/Slate Grey are optionally available. These equipment packages dispense with genuine leather in the interior and instead feature the high-quality microfiber material Race-Tex as well as a textile material with wool content displaying the iconic Pepita houndstooth pattern. The seatbelts and contrast stitching are in GT silver. The new leather-free interior is available as an option for the base model and 4S as well as a no-cost option for the Turbo and Turbo S models.

Updated control and display concept

Loaded with screens and modern infotainment amenities
Infotainment comes from a 16.8-inch curved digital cluster, two 10.9-inch front touchscreens, and two rear 10.1-inch touchscreens. A Bose 21-speaker 3D audio system promises an amazing audio experience.

The instrument cluster, central display and optional passenger display feature an optimized user interface with additional functions. The mode switch on the steering wheel now comes as standard. For Taycan models equipped with the Sport Chrono package and the Performance Battery Plus, there is a special push-to-pass button on the mode switch.

Using the new control lever on the left behind the steering wheel, control of the driver assistance systems is even more intuitive. Apple CarPlay has been more deeply integrated into the vehicle displays and functions. The new In-Car Video function enables video streaming on the central display and the passenger display.
