Find out why Porsche-branded camping equipment and gear can be a great companion on your next adventure
by Amrit Balraj on August 7, 2024, 10:00If you’re a Porsche fan, when you hear the term ’roof tent’ your mind most likely goes to lifted overlanding SUVs kitted out for off-road adventures. Porsche too has now made a roof-mountable tent which is the perfect addition to your next camping trip. Conceived by Studio F.A. Porsche, the design and merchandising arm based in Zell am See, Austria, the roof tent is a multifunctional rooftop tent that allows you to camp wherever you park. It can be folded away into a hard shell case in black/light gray or black/dark gray color combos.
This comfortable abode is spacious enough for two adults and is made of insulated cotton blend fabric, waterproof zippers, and an additional rain cover. The sides are printed with the iconic Porsche lettering. The interior is light grey, with a quilted lining that effectively insulates when you’re out and about. A mountain silhouette adorns the head end, and the same quilting pattern is echoed in the integrated, high-density polyfoam mattress.
- The Porsche rooftop tent is designed by Studio F.A Porsche and costs $5,295.
- Porsche offers a whole range of complimentary products like a portable sturdy speaker, travel thermos, and backpacks.
- Porsche recently came out with a canopy-style tent named ’The Pavilion’

The roof tent is fairly simple to set up and even easier if you have some friends to help you get started. The folded roof tent within the hard shell case needs to be handled from both sides to be secured on the rooftop rails. Once secured, unlocking two latches on the passenger side with a key allows the hard shell to lift open, revealing a strap to deploy the ladder. The hard shell is closed and opened by the support of two gas pressure dampers. Designed for various Porsche models, including the 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan the ladder’s steps are adjustable. There are flexible tension rods with hooks provided that can be used to secure window awnings and the rain cover in place. Zip-up windows allow for complete openness, ventilation through a mesh screen, or full blackout. The skylight can also be configured the same and provides a breathtaking view of the night sky if you are so inclined.
At last year’s 24 Hours Of Lemans, visitors were treated to the sight of a roof tent mounted on a 911 Turbo S at the Porsche employee’s campsite, belonging to none other than Porsche CEO Oliver Blume. He spent two nights camped out on top of his 911 Turbo S for the event, that’s how you arrive in style. Porsche also offers a whole range of outdoor equipment under their Tequipment banner including the PDS20 Outdoor Speaker ($245), a Porsche branded thermal mug ($59), and two backpacks of different styles - an Urban Eco Travel Backpack ($350) and the Active 2.0 Backpack ($255).
Now You Can Get A Porsche Branded Canopy Tent
Porsche continues to add to their outdoor lifestyle product line-up, this time coming up with a free-standing canopy tent. The tent can be inflated rapidly via a central valve, after which it can be securely anchored with a storm-resistant fastening set. Included accessories: a hand pump, a side panel with a clear window, a Velcro-fastened floor cover, and a weatherproof tunnel connecting the tent to a Porsche’s tailgate. Measuring 17 square feet, the side panel features a built-in privacy screen that attaches to the window. For an unobstructed view, the screen can be rolled up and secured with straps. While we do not have the official figures on the height, from the press images we can estimate it to be around 8.0 feet.
The canopy tent’s square design and versatile zip system enable various configurations. An optional steep-faced extension tent can be zipped on for added space, complete with a separate inner tent for sleeping. There are also built-in bug-repellant nets that provide ventilation. Multiple tents can be connected for larger setups. Porsche might’ve stumbled onto the next big glamping must-have with their innovative new canopy tent. Imagine linking up multiple canopy tents and having the entire family camped out under the same roof. Packed dimensions are a compact 31.5 x 16.5 x 15.4 inches, with a total weight of 26.5 pounds. ’The Pavilion’ is available for purchase at Porsche dealerships, starting at $1,680 for the base tent without accessories.
