From classic Speedsters to air-cooled 911s, restomods to race cars and everything in-between, here's what showed up at this years event
by Khris Bharath on August 13, 2024, 15:30The 2024 Porsche Monterey Classic Event roared into life this week, with a dazzling display of Porsche royalty. The event was a vibrant community of fanatics who came together to celebrate their shared passion. From the hallowed halls of motorsport history to the cutting edge of electric mobility, Porsche Monterey pulled out all the stops for this enthusiast extravaganza. The event wasn’t just about showing off the latest and greatest. Vintage Porsches, their timeless lines gleaming under the California sun, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with modern marvels of German engineering.

Iconic Speedsters models, like the 550 and 356, shared the spotlight with a sea of 930s and 964s in a wide range of colors and bodystyles. While the classics stole hearts, there was also no shortage of some E.V. action, not from Porsche but from restomoders like U.K.-based Everratti. California being the heart of the restomod scene, a stand-out car was the 1986 911 Prototype by ProjektSIX finished in Jade green, along with a few cars from Singer Vehicle Design. More modern interpretations, such as the Boxster and Cayman, rubbed shoulders with an off-road-ready Cayenne, and a white-on-white 992 Dakar showcasing Porsche’s versatility.
As for some extreme performance machines, you had a Carrera GT, with its mid-engine V10 fury, sitting inside the Porsche Monterey building and there was no shortage of modern RS cars including a number of GT2 RS and GT3 RS across several 911 generations. Even the legendary Le Mans dominating Porsche 917, which was raced by the legendary Jo Siffert, made an appearance. This was personally the stand-out car for me of this event. Bidding wars for Porsche memorabilia added a touch of friendly competition, and the photo booth ensured countless memories were captured.
Beyond Porsche, the video below gives us a sneak-peak at some of the cars that you can expect to see at Monterey Car Week 2024. From vintage cars, and exotics to even F1 race cars, we get to see some ultra-rare and extremely multi-million dollar machines headed for auction over the coming week. Watch this space.
