ES Motors UK demonstrates how it takes almost little to no modifications, to transform the Turbo S into a hypercar slayer
by Dimitar Angelov on September 30, 2024, 11:00The Porsche 911 Turbo S is, by no means, an affordable car.... or is it? It all depends on the context and when that includes hypercars from the likes of Bugatti and Koenigsegg, the perception of value can drastically change. While the build process of most exotics typically employs the best and most exotic materials, this doesn’t always guarantee a million-dollar, 1,000-plus-horsepower hypercar’s position at the top of the automotive food chain. Then you have other cars that despite the lack of these sci-fi materials, are still built to be overachievers and the Porsche 992 Turbo S is certainly a great example of that.
With the Turbo S, the German engineers at Stuttgart and Weissach, have done some sort of witchcraft thus granting the rear-engine sports car a level of performance that is on par with some of the most exquisite hypercars money can buy. Out of the box, the 992.1 Turbo S is already a beast, but ES Motors, over in the U.K., who are responsible for creating some of the fastest Porsche 911s in the world wanted to showcase, what an almost stock 992 Turbo S with some very basic mods is capable of when pitted against some of the fastest on the planet.
Small modifications to the 992 can result in big gains
The term "mildly modified" is widely used to describe a car that features basic, bolt-on upgrades. Those are generally considered to be the exhaust, headers, cold-air intake, and a remap. Apparently, the Porsche 992 Turbo S can become a proper hypercar slayer with even less, as you’re about to find out. ES Motor has a couple of packages that enhance the 992 Turbo’s performance. Making 850 horsepower is easy. ES Motor achieved this through a titanium exhaust and a custom tune, which is what the ES700 Package is all about.
This brings power up to 720 horsepower and 633 pound-feet to the wheels, which translates to 847 horsepower and roughly 720 pound-feet at the crankshaft. With these performance mods, here’s how the Porsche 992 Turbo S ES 700 stacks up to the stock car.
Performance specifications | Porsche 911 (992.1) Turbo S | Porsche 911 (992.1) Turbo S ES700 |
---|---|---|
Engine | 3.7-liter,DOHC , twin-turbo, flat-6 | 3.7-liter, DOHC, twin-turbo, flat-6 |
Power | 640 horsepower at 6,750 RPM | 847 horsepower at 6,984 RPM |
Torque | 590 pound-feet at 2,500-4,000 RPM | 720 pound-feet at 5,152 RPM |
Transmission | 8-speed PDK automatic | 8-speed PDK automatic |
Drivetrain | Rear engine, AWD | Rear engine, AWD |
Curb weight | 3,615 pounds | 3,615 pounds |
0-60 mph | 2.5 seconds | 2.4 seconds |
0-124 mph | 8.9 seconds | 7.36 seconds |
1/4 mile | 10.1 seconds at 137 mph | 9.8 seconds at 141 mph |
Top speed | 205 mph | 205+ mph |
But for maximum impact, ES Motor recommends that you change the factory tires, i.e. the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. They are one of two factory tire options, the second one being the Pirelli P Zero, which is regarded as the better-performance tire. But Ideally, what you really want is a set of Michelin Pilot Sports in my opinion.
ES900 is where the Turbo S becomes a real nightmare for hyperarcs
The base ES700 package is enough to keep hyperarcs at bay when it comes to off-the-line acceleration on a shorter distance, but if you really want to leave a lasting dent in the ego of Bugatti and Koenigsegg owners, ES Motor’s ES900 package for the 992 Turbo S is what you need. This package is slightly more comprehensive than a custom tune and an exhaust upgrade. It is also worth noting that almost all parts featured in the ES Motor performance packages are manufactured in-house. This particular iteration of Porsche’s iconic flat-six engine is one of the best platforms to build upon, so how can you not? The ES900 package for the Porsche 992.1 Turbo S includes the following upgrades:
-
3.0-inch ES Motor stainless steel/ titanium exhaust system with Drone chambers and Tubes
-
ES Motor custom, hybrid turbochargers
-
Custom exhaust headers
-
3D-printed intake headers with performance air filters
-
CSF intercoolers
-
Custom ECU tune
-
ES custom TCU tune
-
Methanol injection kit with custom braided lines for protection against methanol degradation, stainless steel tank, and direct injection into the Y-pipe
ES Motor recently put out a video (linked above), in which they street-tested a Porsche 992 Turbo S with the ES900 package, following a series of dyno pulls and fine-tuning to make sure that the German sports car delivers consistent power, reliably. I also collected figures from the Bugatti Chiron and Koenigsegg Jesko to compare these cars side-by-side. The results are mind-boggling. It is worth noting that the following figures may vary depending on road conditions and in the case of the Porsche’s 0-60 mph time, it experienced some wheels spin, explaining why the numbers are the same as the ES700 package. The best part is that the ES900 includes multiple maps, accounting for the difference in fuel quality.
Performance specifications | Porsche 911 (992.1) Turbo S ES 700 | Bugatti Chiron | Koenigsegg Jesko Attack |
---|---|---|---|
Engine | 3.8-liter, DOHC, twin-turbo, flat-6 | 8.0-liter, DOHC, quad-turbo, W-16 | 5.0-liter, DOHC, twin-turbo, V-8 |

How much does it cost to turn a Porsche 911 Turbo S into a hypercar slayer?
The Porsche 992 Turbo starts at $199,195 for the base Turbo or $232,595 for the Turbo S. The ES900 package can be applied to both variants. To put things in perspective, the Bugatti Chiron costs $3.3 million when new, and that doesn’t include all the personalization options available to you. To no surprise, the Koenigsegg Jesko is in the same price range, starting at around $3.0 million.
As for the price of the ES900 package, it will set you back $40,000 or $43,455, depending on whether you choose the stainless steel or titanium exhaust. TECHART is another renowned tuner that specializes in making Porsche 911s even faster. But in my opinion, ES Motor’s kit is a bargain even compared to TECHART’s latest kit for the 992 Turbo S. Now for under 300 grand, there’s no arguing with the fact that you are able to extract hypercar-rivaling performance, which is simply mind-boggling. Sure, the 992 may not lack the presence of an exotic car, if we’re taking simply about straight-line speed, you now know what a modern-day Turbo S is really capable of.
