Having taken over a year to conceive as part of the Porsche Sonderwunsh Program, this two-tone Taycan is a bespoke creation that should hold its value
by Amreetam Basu on September 9, 2024, 12:00Porsche’s second top model for the Taycan EV, the Turbo S, is nothing short of a performance powerhouse. We’re talking 938 horsepower and 818 pound-feet of max torque, along with loads of sportier touches, including standard carbon ceramic brakes (you need these beefier brakes to tame this beast), standard 21-inch wheels, rear-axle steering, and a boatload of carbon fiber trim.
But what if you want your Taycan Turbo S to feature more bespoke touches on the outside and inside? Well, Porsche took inspiration from a precious gemstone and created the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade – a one-off masterpiece handcrafted through their super-exclusive Sonderwunsch program. It’s basically like a custom-made suit but for your car.
The designers and paint gurus at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur joined forces with the Porsche Asia Pacific team to infuse this car with the vibrant spirit of Southeast Asia. Think bespoke touches and mythical symbols, all paying homage to the region. This beauty recently made its first public appearance in Singapore on September 5th, and now it’s on a trip across Southeast Asia. But here’s the coolest part: this isn’t just some fancy show car. Next year, it’s hitting the auction block, and all the money raised will go to a good cause.
This one-off Taycan Turbo S looks and feels ultra-premium, but will it also be the victim of diminishing value? Let’s find out all that we know of this exclusive Porsche EV.
What is the Sonderwunsch Program?
Ever dreamt of a Porsche that’s uniquely yours, a rolling reflection of your personality and passions? That’s where Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program comes in. It’s like a magic wand for Porsche enthusiasts, turning those "what if" ideas into reality. Sonderwunsch, which translates to "special request" in German, is all about pushing the boundaries of customization, creating one-of-a-kind Porsches that are as unique as their owners.
This isn’t some newfangled idea, either. Porsche has fulfilled special requests since the ’70s, but Sonderwunsch has evolved into a full-fledged division within Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. They collaborate with customers to craft automotive masterpieces. Of course, this level of exclusivity comes with a price tag and a waiting list. But for those who crave a truly one-of-a-kind Porsche, Sonderwunsch is the ultimate indulgence.
Meet the first Taycan Turbo S in Celestial Jade
Porsche Sonderwunsch, the wizards behind those drool-worthy custom Porsches, have outdone themselves again. They’ve just unveiled the Celestial Jade Taycan Turbo S, a one-of-a-kind creation that’s heading to Southeast Asia for a showcase before it hits the auction block.
This Taycan Turbo S isn’t just any electric Porsche; it’s the first one to rock a beautiful Chromaflare paint job. Imagine colors that shift and shimmer depending on how the light hits them, like a chameleon on wheels. The paintwork was done by hand and took around 80 hours to complete. The front end is painted in "Urban Bamboo," a mesmerizing blend of greens and gold, while the back fades into a deep "Shifting Carbon" blue-black. Even the electric logo gets the Chromaflare treatment!
And the interior? It’s just as special. Porsche’s interior specialists cooked up a new color combo just for this car: a sophisticated dark green called "Elegant Dark Green." You’ll find it on the front and rear seat centers, adding a touch of luxury to the already stunning cabin.
Besides the eye-catching Chromaflair paint job, the one-off Taycan also sports a custom-designed "LongMa" logo in several spots. This mythical creature, with a dragon’s head and a horse’s body, symbolizes power, strength, and good fortune. It’s a fitting emblem for the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, as 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac, and the word "Taycan" itself means "young horse." You’ll find this cool logo on the door sill guards and headrests, and it is even projected onto the ground when you open the doors. It’s a subtle yet powerful reminder of this special car’s unique blend of Eastern and Western influences.
This could be the only Taycan to retain its value over time
It’s no secret that the Taycan is notorious for its depreciation over the years of its lifespan. While Porsches are generally known for holding their value well, the Taycan has experienced a steeper depreciation curve than some of its gas-powered siblings. Current MSRP for the 2025 Taycan range between $99,400 and $230,000 for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Pack. The Taycan’s value has been taking a massive hit, with some models losing up to 40 percent of their original price! However, given the exclusivity of this one-off example of the Taycan Turbo S, there’s a fine chance that it probably won’t suffer the same fate and will keep increasing in value over time.
