Combining two of Porsche's most iconic models, here's why the German marque should actually consider building it
by Khris Bharath on August 27, 2024, 10:30Some digital artists are content with basic flame paint jobs and slammed Civics. Then there’s Kyza, a.k.a Khyzl Saleem who has once again cooked up something that’ll have Porsche fanatics frothing at the mouth: a bonkers fusion of the legendary Porsche 935 Slantnose and the innovative and over-engineered Porsche 959 supercar.
A Digital Rendering That Combines Two Porsche Icons
The 935 Slantnose? Also known as Mobydick, the 935 was a track-bred car that dominated endurance races back in the late 1970s, and its aggressive looks haven’t aged a bit. The 959, on the other hand, was a technological marvel from the 80s. All-wheel drive, active suspension, a twin-turbo heart - this thing was bonkers for its time and is the grandfather of the 918 Spyder and the Carrera GT.
What’s funny is it automatically looks like something Gemballa/Strosek could have done, even though it hasn’t been widened or changed drastically. Just changed the front bumper and removed the lights, to what you see before you. - KYZA
Kyza has taken the 935 Slantnose’s instantly recognizable Darth Vader-esque nose with modern-day LED headlights and grafted it onto the 959’s already aggressive body that retains that iconic fixed-rear wing. The result? A Frankensteinian masterpiece that looks both insanely fast and strangely elegant, especially in that retina-searing green. But this hypothetical car could be so much more than just looks. Porsche!! It’s time to get on this. Imagine the sound it could make. The 959’s twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, combined with the Slantnose’s track-tuned exhaust, would probably wake the dead. As for the handling? The 959’s advanced suspension system, paired with the Slantnose’s aerodynamically optimized body and modern-performance embellishments, would make this thing a corner carver.
An extremely low-volume limited-run Slantnose 959 would be a guaranteed sell-out. It could be the ultimate homage to two of your greatest hits, a car that blends motorsports heritage with cutting-edge tech. Plus, it’d give restomodders like Singer and Ruf, a proper run for their money. I feel Porsche today is playing catchup to the restomod market. They missed the bus with the 911 Dakar, as Singer beat it to market with the ACS. More recently, Tutthill came out with a modern interpretation of the GT1 and you also have the Kalmar 9x9, a modern take on the 959. A Slantnose 959, could be a chance for Porsche to turn things around. So, what are you waiting for, Porsche? Make this thing happen, and if you do decide to build it, please, hang onto this stunning green hue. It’s the perfect finishing touch for this wild creation.
