Crash Course: Incredible A.I.-Generated Art Highlights The Dangers Of Reckless Driving

Find out why this digital artist, specifically chose Porsche to showcase the importance of road safety

Cole Kessel is an A.I. artist, a part of a growing tribe of folks who use A.I. tools like Midjourney, clever prompts, and their imagination to create some truly incredible art. I have tried my hand at Midjourney and Adobe’s Firefly and I’ve gotta say, making your art look good is not as easy as typing in a bunch of words and hoping for the best. Cole uses a combination of Photoshop’s Generative fill feature and Midjourney to create some beautiful, bizarre Porsche-themed digital art. His latest work, which showcases hyper-realistic images of wrecked Porsches displayed at the Louvre Museum in Paris, highlights the perils of reckless driving. The reason he specifically chose Porshe was a recent 911 GT3 crash in the news. His latest work ’Drive-Safe’ digital exhibit showcases wrecked Porsche models, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving.

The Message Behind The Digital Art

Scrolling through the comments, you’ll find that his work is already attracting some controversy with people divided on the message. There have been some negative comments regarding the shock value generated by the digital installation, which sometimes seems hyperrealistic. The artist maintains that his only intention was to promote safe driving practices and remind us of human limitations. The powerful images of destruction offer a juxtaposition to the regal surroundings of the Louvre Museum, almost making you wish it was real.

The artist also believes that the brand image of Porsche will not be negatively affected by the piece as it shows ’strength and confidence in their products’. Anyone who has gotten behind the wheel of a Porsche should know about that exhilarating feel of invincibility. The ’Drive Safe’ installation is just a reminder that if you’re not careful or are irresponsible, it can all go wrong in seconds

While the days of the OG 930 widowmaker from back in the day are long gone and safety has come a long way, Porsches regardless of the model are powerful performance cars first. Things can get even more hairy if you’re talking about a rear-wheel drive model in less-than-ideal conditions, especially when it’s on the road, and not the race track. Also, being a low-volume luxury/sports car brand, Porsches are not crash-tested and safety ratings are unavailable. Having said that most Porsche models share components with products from the wider VW Group. Anyway, here’s a compilation of some real-world Porsche crashes.

On a final note, the primary message of Cole’s work is to highlight the importance of mindful driving. He goes on to say that if his post even inspires one person to drive more carefully, the effort was well worth it. Check out more of Cole’s incredible work on his Instagram handle, most of which are beautiful and thought-provoking. My favorite part about his art is that they are all Porsche-themed.
