When you Google “car shoes,” you typically get results for driving shoes— that is, footwear designed for comfort and control while driving. As a proud owner of Porsche design sneakers from Puma myself, you can say I’m a fanboy, but I recently stumbled upon a very different kind of Porsche-themed shoes on the web. Forget your fancy driving loafers, gearheads. We’re diving headfirst into questionable car merch with these gloriously awful Porsche 911-inspired footwear.

Remember the Camel Trophy? That epic off-road endurance race that pushed man and machine to their limits? Often dubbed the Olympics of 4x4s, it was a competition that was held annually between 1980 and 2000. From the impenetrable jungles of the Amazon and Sumatra to the frozen extremes of Siberia, the Camel Trophy ran through, some of the most hostile and untraversable areas on the planet. Sure, you may be used to seeing old-school Land Rover Defenders and Discoverys covered in mud from back in the day. But this rendering of a Macan Turbo electric with a Camel-Trophy theme by Blackfish Graphics caught my attention for a few reasons.

Broad Arrow Auctions has released its list of the top 10 sales for Monterey Car Week 2024. An astonishing total of $71.5 million was achieved, with an impressive 85% of lots sold. The car that topped the list is none other than the - (Lot 275) 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Rennversion raced by Rohr Racing, which managed to fetch $7,045,000. This particular car is one that we’ve covered previously leading up to CarWeek, and our guess about being sold for big money was spot on. Based on the 993-generation 911, this example is one of only nine customer GT1s ever produced, making it extremely rare.

Porsche has announced a strategic partnership with Varta AG, a German battery manufacturer. Even as the broader EV industry faces headwinds, this counterintuitive strategy reflects Porsche’s long-term vision of dominating the high-performance electric vehicle segment. I say counterintuitive, because Porsche backtracked on its statement from 2020, that it wanted 30% of its sales to come from EVs by the end of the decade. Regardless, this move could shake things up for Tesla and other EV players.

Jeremy Snow, who runs the ‘Electric Supercar channel’ on YouTube is all about, as you may have guessed from the name, EVs. Because Elon is taking his time with delivering the Roadster (seven years and counting), Jeremy built one for himself. He has previously also built a Hummer H1 EV. While the Monterey Car Week has already witnessed its fair share of automotive showstoppers, few have dared to redefine the custom aftermarket genre quite like the Kalmar 9X9 and the Tuthill GT1 this year. While the 911 restomod scene is quite mature, this trend is now extending to other iconic models from the Porsche stable. Kalmar Automotive based out of Denmark, is calling it the "world’s first retro hypercar," a bold statement that perfectly captures the essence of this beast. Inspired by legendary cars of the past like the over-engineered 959 owing to that distinctive fixed rear wing, the 9X9 blends classic aesthetics and cutting-edge performance.

Porsche’s turbocharged models have evolved significantly since the introduction of the first 911 Turbo in 1974. Now, five decades later, Porsche is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its iconic model with the unveiling of the limited-edition "911 Turbo 50 Years" at Monterey Car Week. This special model pays homage to the original 930 Turbo, a model that revolutionized the sports car market by integrating turbocharging technology from race cars into a road-legal vehicle. This new anniversary model pays homage to this legacy while incorporating modern styling and performance enhancements.

Enter the miniaturized marvel that is turning heads and sparking conversations among dads and enthusiasts alike: a baby stroller based on the legendary Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Technically, since it has a soft top, this is essentially a GT3 RS convertible, which doesn’t exist in real life.

Remember that insane project where Porsche tried to drive a 911 to the top of a freaking volcano? Yeah, that wasn’t some fever dream – it actually happened, and now they’re dropping a documentary about the whole ordeal. "Edith: Volcano Ascent" is about to erupt onto the scene at the upcoming Monterey Car Week. The car in question? Not a souped-up SUV, but a specially-prepped Porsche 911. We first caught wind of "Edith" back in late 2022, when Porsche was busy testing the car. Their destination and target? Ojos del Salado up in the Andes in Chile, is the world’s highest active volcano. At a lung-crushing 22,093 feet, to give you some context, even Everest’s base camp sits lower than where Porsche was aiming for. This is also the highest volcano on Earth and the highest peak in Chile.
