I regrouped every YouTube review on the most-expensive 911 on sale today, to find a trend emerge
by Amrit Balraj on October 3, 2024, 16:00Porsche introduced the 911 S/T, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the iconic sports car. Limited to 1963 units, a tribute to the launch year of the original 911, the S/T is a driver-focused special edition model. Porsche has designed the ultimate 911 combining the best technologies and features from other stalwarts in their line-up. Every review of the 911 S/T that I’ve read or seen has unanimously called it the greatest 911 if not, one of the greatest road cars ever. Now, I have compiled the best reviews from some of my favorite channels and presenters on YouTube, where each one of them has presented a unique perspective on the brilliance and historical significance of the 911 S/T.

Doug Demuro’s 911 S/T Review
Doug starts by calling the 911 S/T the ’ultimate Porsche 911’, before going on his usual breakdown of all its ’quirks and features’. The 911 S/T is the spiritual successor to the 2016 911 R, essentially a GT3 RS with a manual transmission. Doug’s review also breaks down all the weight-saving measures undertaken by Porsche, which brought the curb weight of the S/T to around 3,050 pounds.
CarWow 911 S/T Review
Mat Watson gets behind the wheel of the 911 S/T and wonders whether he made a mistake, as in the video he is 3 weeks away from receiving his own 911 GT3 RS. He also gets to speak with Mr. GT himself - Andreas Preuninger who shares his views on the S/T. Matt who has his channel Mat Watson Cars recently documented his 500-mile road trip where he took his GT3 RS and the S/T to compare which is best.
Harry’s Garage 911 S/T Review
Harry asks the question if the S/T is the best 911 ever or just an overpriced GT3 special edition, notice a similar theme to these reviews?
The Throttle House Porsche 911 S/T Review
James and Thomas did a hilarious version of the golden ticket scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, implying that the only way to buy an S/T potentially would be if they found a golden ticket. While both equally loved the S/T, however, Thomas wishes the S/T was more accessible to a wider customer base - owing to its high $2,90,000 starting price tag.
The Intercooler 911 S/T Review
My favorite review so far, where the team at The Intercooler pits the S/T with another special edition 911 - the Dakar. We get to see two 911s purpose-built for two different purposes, going head-to-head and answering questions that no one has asked before. The Dakar is a fantastic road car, despite it being built for rougher terrain.
Top Gear’s 911 S/T Review
Associate Editor Tom Ford gets up close and personal with two 911 S/Ts and falls fully in love with the car. He even claims it is "better than a GT3 RS". Andreas Preuninger makes an appearance in this review as well where he gives us the tagline for the S/T - "It is the 60th-anniversary birthday present, we made for ourselves" Top Gear also put out another video where they took the S/T to the track to see how it would be.
Engineering Explained 911 S/T Review
We get two Jasons - Jason Fenske, host of Engineering Explained, and the legendary Jason Cammisa of Hagerty as they take the S/T for a spin. As per the usual from Engineering Explained, we get a detailed technical analysis of the S/T, a car Jason calls the ’best car he has ever driven’.
PistonsHeads 911 S/T Review
Matt from Pistonheads does a full walk-around review of the 911 S/T with Andreas Preuninger.
The Smoking Tire 911 S/T Review
An interesting video where Matt Farah compares the 911 S/T to the 911 GT3 Touring. The best way to compare these two? Drive them back to back on the same day and on the same road.
Shmee150 911 S/T Review
Shmee, a.k.a Tim Burton describes the 911 S/T as the embodiment of the ’ultimate in driving experience’.
MilesPerHr 911 S/T Review
Miles from the MilePerHr channel takes us through daily driving, offering viewers a glimpse of living with the 911 S/T. We get
Bonus: Savagegeese 911 S/T Review
We’re fans of the Savagegeese channel here on Motorheads for how technical they get on some of their deep dives, and I simply couldn’t leave this one out where they go over the 911 you want, but can’t have.
So there you have it, not 10, but 11 different reviews of a very special 911. Although all of them offer different perspectives, everyone is united in their opinion that the S/T is one of the best 911s ever. Phrases like the ’ultimate 911’ or the ’best driving 911’ are thrown at the S/T a lot in these videos, which is saying a lot. The Porsche 911 S/T embodies the essence of the modern 911, offering a thrilling and uncompromised driving experience.
The lightest 992 prioritizes driver engagement and timeless design over technological advancements, delivering a truly exceptional and collectible performance car. Despite its $290,000 MSRP, the 911 S/T is well worth the investment and is expected to appreciate significantly in value.
