Broad Arrow Auctions has released its list of the top 10 sales for Monterey Car Week 2024. An astonishing total of $71.5 million was achieved, with an impressive 85% of lots sold. The car that topped the list is none other than the - (Lot 275) 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Rennversion raced by Rohr Racing, which managed to fetch $7,045,000. This particular car is one that weâve covered previously leading up to CarWeek, and our guess about being sold for big money was spot on. Based on the 993-generation 911, this example is one of only nine customer GT1s ever produced, making it extremely rare.
With this sale, not only did this 911 GT1 top the charts, but it is now among the top 3 most expensive Porsche models to ever cross the block. The only other Porsche models that have sold for more money at auction include the 1982 Porsche 956 at $10,120,000 and the 1970 Porsche 917K in the iconic Gulf colors, fetching a whopping $14,080,000. It is worth noting that this 911 GT1 Rennversion beat a 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion (stree-version), based on the 996 chassis sold by Gooding & Company for $5,665,000 at Amelia Island in 2017. The 1976 Porsche 935 Coupe, which we also touched upon, missed out on the top 10 list fetching $4,295,000. According to Magneto, auctioneers struggled to make headway at Monterey Car Week this year. In fact, the GT1 Rennversion seen here was actually estimated to bring in between $8.5-$10.5 million. Coming back to the Broad Arrow Auctions 2024, other Porsche and Porsche-based models that made the top 10 list include: (Lot 121) - 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package - $2,480,000 (Lot 130) - 1998 RUF CTR 2 - $2,095,000 (Lot 257) - 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort - SOLD AFTER AUCTION (Lot 114) - 1998 RUF Turbo R Limited - $1,710,00010 most expensive Porsche models to ever cross the block (Updated 2024)
